Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!!

Hope you had a wonderful turkey day and were able to celebrate with some Redmon wine.  We thought it would be fun to share with you a bit about what the Redmon/Mangelson family did over the long weekend - we picked olives for pressing.  If you have visited us in St. Helena, you might recall that we have 15 beautiful olive trees on our property.  We decided to harvest them for the first time this year and will press them next week to make olive oil.

Redmon Wines began as a home winemaking experiment in a garage 12 years ago. Similar to the wine project in those early years, we are just having some fun and learning about the process of making oil. Come see us in 2013 and we'll let you taste and give us your opinion on the oil.

Stay tuned for information about our 2012 Wood Gift Boxes. We will email out specifics next week.

We were lucky enough to have a visit and tasting last week with a local Napa Valley couple who owns and operates Woodhouse Chocolate in St. Helena (one of my all time favorites).  Steve, who spent a good part of his life in the wine business, gives a beautiful description of the Redmon Cabernet in his monthly newsletter along with some interesting suggestions on chocolate pairing:

"Of the wines we tried yesterday, our favorite to try with our chocolate was the estate: Redmon 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Redmon Vineyard, St. Helena, Napa Valley ($79). The aromas of the wine are redolent of dark cherry, blackberry and some chocolate, while the palate answers with a velvety vanilla and toast from the barrels as well as firm black cherry and boysenberry. A really beautifully made wine that was extremely chocolate friendly. Try it with our Thai Ginger (brings out the spiciness of the ginger and the fruit of the wine), Honey (round sweet/fruit character), Quatre Epices (mulled wine), Caramel Mousse, Cinnamon, Champagne Truffle and Rum Raisin."

Woodhouse is a "must visit" if you get to the St. Helena.  You can also order by calling:
