Saturday May 5th Redmon Wines will be the first to promote, Napa Valley Vintners' Napa Rocks program at Harvest Inn Saturday during breakfast. We will provide an engaging presentation that digs into what makes Napa Valley America’s premier wine growing region. A great way to kick-off a weekend of wine tasting, guests will receive a delicious introduction to the history, climate, geology and special attributes that make Napa Valley world famous.  The complimentary, informal program takes place 9-10:30 a.m. in the Inn’s Wine Country Kitchen.

Redmon Wines is kicking off Spring with $1 shipping on all Chardonnay purchased through the end of May.  We are enjoying weather in the 90's this weekend in Napa Valley spurring plans for outdoor BBQ's, events and hopefully Chardonnay consumption in the next few months.

We'd like to share our excitement about the warm weather by offering this promotion and suggesting one our favorite spring/summer recipes that pairs beautifully with the 2009 Chardonnay.  I serve this as a first course to an outdoor meal.  It's cool, refreshing and brings out the flavors of the wine beautifully.  To order the wine click: www.redmonwines.com and use the code SHIP001.

Watermelon Salad Recipe

  • ½ medium seedless watermelon
  • 1 bunch fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/3 honey

Preparation:

  1. Slice the watermelon and remove the rind, trimming away the pale flesh adjacent to the rind, leaving only the sweet, bright red flesh.
  2. Cut the watermelon into large dice, or approximately ¾-inch cubes.
  3. Arrange the watermelon cubes on chilled plates.
  4. Combine the balsamic and honey in a saucepan and bring to a boil.  Reduce to low and simmer until it reduces to a thickened sauce.  Cool.
  5. Drizzle the watermelon with the reduction and top with mint leaves

We hope you enjoy this pairing as much as we do.
