Scott and I had the chance to pour our wines at an amazing party this weekend held a clients' home in Scottsdale, AZ. The group shared cooking duties and prepared an amazing menu of crabcakes with remoulade, stuffed mushroom with turkey sausage, beef tenderloin with a cabernet sauce served with hash brown potatoes Au casserole and grilled asparagus. The three wines paired beautifully with each course. My favorite might have been the custom red velvet mini cakes dipped in white chocolate and topped with the Redmon "R" in red for dessert.
We had a fun night educating this group of 25 on the Napa Valley and the release of our 2008 Cabernets. The group was a whole bunch of fun, the decor was beautiful and the food was delicious. We hope to get invited back again!!!
Redmon Wines is excited to release two beautiful Cabernet's this week. We have produced only 250 cases of each and expect it to go fast.
We are thrilled with the outcome of the Estate Cabernet this vintage and feel that the improvements we have made in the vineyard over the past years are really paying off. When we first took over the vineyard in 1999, we spent our first years updating the farming on our amazing 3 ½ acre piece of land. We changed the vines from head trained to trellis, put in a new irrigation system and paired our yield back from four tons per acre to two tons per acre.
We are also excited to release our first Cabernet Blend. We've been working hard on this project over the last years and were able to source fruit from two lovely, small family farms in both Rutherford and St. Helena. The blend is 81% Cabernet and 9 1/2% of each Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wine is showing beautifully and will be one that will really evolve over time.

Taste Redmon Wines' soon to release 2008 Cabernet and enjoy a relaxed, fun & elegant evening to savor a three-course Southern Indian dinner. Redmon will be one of a number of small, botique wines poured that evening.
Guests will have the opportunity to view three independent short films curated by the talented folks at Indee TV! There will also be short Q&A session with noted film industry veteran Kim Aubry, producer of films like Apocalypse Now and Forrest Gump and founder of post-production studio Zoetrope-Aubry Productions.

Scott and I had the chance to host a great event for one of our customers in New York City this past weekend. We arrived in New York right at the tail end of the horrible winter weather and joined the group in Midtown.
We worked with an amazing New York based company to pair cheeses with our three wines. We paired a Sainte Maure goat cheese from the Loire River area of France with our 2008 Chardonnay, a French cow's milk Morbier with the 2007 Estate Cabernet and then a hard cheese called Sbinz from Switzerland with a barrel sample of the Cabernet Blend. All were paired perfectly.

We had the opportunity to participate in a Charity Event at Ronald McDonald House in San Diego recently. We brought four other Napa Valley small wine producers to pour wines for clients of UBS Financial. All proceeds from the event went to support the children in the hospital at this location.
We poured our 2007 Cabernet and 2008 Chardonnay and both were a big hit. The Cabernet paired wonderfully with an Olive Stuffed Prime Rib Roast on Brasserie Potatoes prepared byAlex at the Stone Brewing Company.

While mother nature has been unusually unpredictable this year, we are excited about the ripeness and flavor profile of this year’s grapes. We had a long stretch of cool weather this summer that resulted in a late harvest. The sugars remained below 24 BRIX until the last day or two when they very quickly reached 25 BRIX.
Unlike past years, we had only a day notice that the fruit was ready to pick and had to have our crew out quickly. We usually invite customers out to participate, but we are sorry to announce that we were unable to do this because of the urgency of events. We’ll look forward to next year and sharing the 2010 wines with you.
