2014 Redmon Estate Cabernet, St. Helena

2014 Redmon Estate Cabernet, St. Helena

280 Cases Produced

Fantastic progression from ripe rich boysenberry and vanilla on the nose, to a beautiful fullness and dark cherry on the palate, then to a quintessential cabernet finish with silky tannins. This 100% Cabernet is made from grapes grown in our small, family owned vineyard located on the St. Helena bench. This wine will easily cellar for 12-15 years but is ready to drink now. Enjoy!

The Redmon Vineyard was originally planted over 45 years ago with Cabernet Sauvignon grape vines from the classic era in Napa Valley. Originally cultivated as a dry farm, the Clone 6 vines were grafted onto a root system referred to as “root stock” named Saint George. This root stock is known to be resistant to a number of pests that have plagued the wine industry for decades.

For 35 years this vineyard thrived, stressed from the dry growing conditions it has produced award winning wines that were the result of small berries, thick skins, and concentrated fruit flavors.

Today, Lisa is a second generation grape grower that continues the tradition of quality, while modernizing the growing practice in the vineyard. While still following a water deprivation approach, drip lines were added in 2005 in order to replace some of the older vines that had died out. With access to small amounts of water, the vineyard's life has been extended by enabling replanting and soil cultivation practices that ensure sustainability for many years to come.
